4/3/2018 Peoples of the West

Manifest Destiny:  It was our “God given right” to populate the west.

Groups: Homesteaders (farmers), Mountain Men, Lawmen, Native Americans, Merchants, Immigrants(Chinese), Pioneer Women, Cattlemen(cowboys)

Assignment:  

´Students will pair up and complete an assignment together.

´Students to create a PowerPoint, Google slides, Prezi presentation on one of the mentioned groups that settled the west.

´Presentation must include facts, pictures, and student created information answering the following questions….

Questions ( 1 per page/slide of presentation.)

´Describe your chosen group and what their part was in settling the west.

´How crucial were they to the growth of the west.

´Why were they important?

´List 5-10 hardships they may have encountered.

´List some benefits of living in the west from their perspective.

´How did they overcome these hardships?

´What were some of the lasting effects of this group on the culture of the West. (Do we see remnants of the pioneers in our society today?)

This will be due at the end of class on Wednesday 4/4/2018.
