Presentation guidelines and Questions

Students creating slide/power point presentation today and tomorrow in class.

Must answer the following questions;

Must answer all questions and include pictures to enhance presentation.

This is an INDIVIDUAL project.

Growth of Cities:

1. What changed when your factory “moved” to the city?
2. What groups of people moved to the city? What was their life like there?
3. Why was the Asch Building unsafe for the workers in the Triangle Factory?
4. What safeguards do we have in today’s businesses to prevent this from happening again?

Working Conditions;

1. What were working conditions like on the assembly line?
2. What were working conditions like in factories?
3. What were working conditions like in the Triangle Factory?
4. What were the average wages and working hours like then, how have they improved? What are wages like today?

Labor Unions:

1. What methods did workers use to get better working conditions?
2. What did labor unions do to improve working conditions? How did employers react to labor unions?
3. What happened at the Triangle Factory when owners refused to bargain with unions for better working conditions?
4. List 2 of the bigger labor unions in our country today and list a few benefits workers have today because of labor unions.

COMPLETED PROJECT MUST BE TURNED IN/SHARED WITH MR. TAYLOR BY THE END OF CLASS ON THURSDAY 4/19/18.
